Where do you like your Jack?

Output Jack: Front, Side, Other

I have a Fender P-Bass Special (P/J) with the jack in the side,
and of course Jazzes have the jack in the front.
I use an angled plug for the Jazzes. It keeps it a little more flush with the body.
Regular straight plug for the P-Bass. Both suit me just fine. No preferance.

^ ^ In a glass on the rocks is also preferred ^ ^ Good one, Mike..

I like it on a front metal control plate jack, like on early 80s G&L L1K & L2Ke, and Stingrays. I have had plastic PG jacks start to crack the PGs and get loose, BAD/cheap idea. Side jacks not so good for me either. I'm always fumbling around trying to find them and when you look at the damage on some basses, not good.

Gotta be on the front. Hate flippin the bass upside down to find the darn jack so I don't scratch the finish:spit:. Same goes for my guitars - Strat style vs tele or LP.
That said, I've got plenty of basses and guitars with jacks on the side, in fact I think I remember playing one that had a jack on the back in a strat style cup. A good compromise is the standard acoustic electric strap pin jack, I like those as much as the front ones since they're easy to find. But at the end of the day I'll buy any old bass that plays and feels good, no matter how it looks.

As for drinks - I'll second the "in a glass on the rocks" comment.

I personally like them on the side. I don't have the willpower to get myself to purchase an angled cable to better suit a top mounted jack and I'm terrified of putting a regular ol' un-angled cable into one either. So I'll stick with the side. It's not a deal breaker though, I like to keep my options open. ;)

I actually like end-pin jacks. I have one on my Jazz (and of course on my ABG and acoustic guitar), and it really is very cool. The only drawback is that you can't use regular strap-locks, but if the strap does slip off, the cord jack is there to hold it up! You also need a guitar stand...
When I got my Precision it was just weird going back to a front mount. My only other guitar with a top mount is a Strat, and that's not a true top mount.
