Exotic Woods in Burlington is a terrific shop. Mel and the crew are good people to deal with, and they have instrument-grade maple coming out their ears.
Excellent service, lots of interesting specials in their "delete bins". A buddy who builds acoustic guitars (
www.karol-guitars.com) has Braz RW bridge blanks for life, thanks to one of their specials.
The bubinga for the stripes and accents, the ebony fingerboard blank, and the flamed maple for the body wings of the instrument in my sig came from Exotic.
The aged, air-dried rock maple I used for my neck log, came from a guy who has a sawmill on a hobby farm up in the Halton Hills area. He harvests local trees, so his selection is mostly limited to maple, cherry, oak, and walnut. Still, his prices were way lower than the full-service stores. I'll see if I can dig out his contact information.
