Where's $2300 when I need it?

stopped in to take a look on Friday. This thing is in rough shape. Closer pic of the body in this thread, Vintage "Shadow" Ric at GC you can see the scratched up surface on the front and the missing bridge screw. You can make out the corrosion on some of the hardware, but the picture is almost a "myspace angle" level of overly flattering the actual instrument. You definitely don't see the gouge in the finish on the back of the neck, any of the headstock damage, or the poor fit of at least one of the tuning machines which I highly doubt is original.

This would probably make for a fine project piece, but the asking price is a complete joke for the condition it is in. I cannot see a collector shopping at that price point having any interest in this one.

I didn't even get a chance to make an offer, as soon as I asked the manager of the store if there was any possible room to negotiate he cut it right off. Good luck to them, I have a feeling that's going to be on their wall for a while.

LOL...there was no attempt at flattery on my part of the "Myspace" variety. Just a single pic taken for this topic. I never even touched the thing.

I got no dog in this hunt. I'm not in the market for one and if I was going to spend $2,300 on a bass that wouldn't be it! Carry on.....:D

Didn't mean it to sound accusatory or that there was any intention of creating that effect, just that after seeing the piece in question that's the first thing that came to mind. The pics on GC's website are even more flattering in comparison to the condition this poor beast finds itself in.
