I'm looking for a really high-end 15", full (ish) range ceramic driver to put into a 1 x 15 cab; the sort of 15 that's like the 12's in my NV 412. Anyone know which driver Jim used, please or- alternatively- could someone just suggest a really great one, please? The cab is, however, front-ported and not sealed. Many thanks.
The NV610 uses an OEM version of the eminence beta to get it in 24 ohms. An 8ohm Beta15 would likely sound real close to the NV 15" driver.
The berg is sealed and also uses a mid driver. An identical 15 may not work well in a ported full range cab.
Good point. The mid is a closedback, likely la6cbmr or variant, possibly with some notch filtering/response smoothing going on. I'd start by reverse engineering an NV215, then go about the procesw of making 1/2 of one. 1/2 box volume sealed. You could use the same HPF on the 6 and pad it back an additional 3db, then refigure the LPF for the 8ohm woofer. Making it sound easier than it is here with the crossover stuff but it can be done.
Eminence got the new closed back midrange driver out, this one is probably closest to the one used in berg NV 215 and/or avatar TB 153 Speaker Detail | Eminence Speaker Eminence Delta 15 LFA is most likely the woofer used in NV215.
