Which 5 string bass?

Go used, and I can't tell you what you like. String spacing is now a issue. (not for me). Just looking at the board you can see what people are playing. You can get a used Warwick under $1000 for example, or an MTD Kingston. Both very good but very different basses.

Peavey TL-5 or Dyna5.

TL5 is around $500 and Dyna 5 is $200 - $500 or so, both are not made anymore, so they are used.

I place them against any other bass that is brought up here for under $1k, and many over that. They are THAT good.

I play a Dyna5 for the main bass and a TL5 for the back-up. Normally this would be reversed, but I like the neck on my Dyna more. So be it.

G&L L-2500 USA or Tribute, they're both good.

Or Stingray 5.

Not sure on the pricing where you are so you may need to go used on the USA G&L and Stingray 5. I have a SR5 and a Tribute L-2500, love em both but currently gigging the G&L.

So you have your price point. The next questions are:
1.) What feels good in your hands?
2.) What sounds good to your ears?

Nothing anyone of us will tell you should be more important than your firsthand experience with the instrument which will enable you to answer those two essential questions.

Well the obvious answer given the information (none) is a MIM Fender V.

Of course if that was what I wanted, I seriously consider a Lakland instead unless you needed the Fender Look and Vibe for some reason. Peavey suggestions are good too.

But G&L (own two) are wonderful basses but not quite a fender or Fender clone. And Stingrays are even further out, being totally unique in bass. All these are killer basses but only you can decide if that kind of sound is what you'd want.
