Have I always played an SVT, no. Is that what I play now, yes.
There are infinite choices as to what you could get but, here is why I switched to SVT's and why I have more than one.
1. You can pick up an SVT CL on bidding sites from $850 to $1100. There actually one now for a buy it now price of $850.
2. Switchable from 2-4ohm.
3. You are a bass player, you swing the heaviest gear in a band, take off your skirt and stop bitching about how much a head weighs.
4. 300 actual watts of tube glory.
I run everything from a single 15" to multiple 15" and 2 8x10's. The SVT doesn't have to sound muddy as long as you set up accordingly.
From start to finish you could be in a used SVT with a nice used cab for under $1500. Just do it!
