I found that flu shots (or any other vaccines) that were injected into my arms, if provoking any reaction at all, only affected the movement of the upper arm. Lifting things and holding my arms over my head were painful.

Based on this I'd choose the right arm, because when playing, this arm is pointed down and the upper arm muscles are not doing much.

Suck it up princess. Any arm will do. Power through it like a champ!

per the OP: i've had flu shots and covid shots in both arms --- sometimes i've had reactions (including lots of soreness) and sometimes not so much, so i can't predict, IDK. i voted "both/either, toss a coin."

with some (L) shoulder aggravations already = i might choose to be vaccinated in the right arm if it was the day before a gig, but that's just a stab in the dark! :D

By default, I usually get my shots in my left arm.
I've never really applied any reasoning or logic to the choice.
It usually varies depending on which side of the table I'm sitting.

I typically swing my arm around like an idiot (ala Pete Townshend) periodically over the course of the next few hours and (almost) never suffer any soreness.

*edit* Oh yeah! And don't take the band-aid off. You'll let the smoke out and it will really start to hurt

I really can't believe this hasn't been discussed (and if it has I can't believe how well hidden it was from Search...), so here it goes:

Situation:
  • You're getting a flu shot today
  • Your arm will be sore from the shot
  • You're playing for ~2 hours later today
  • You play right-handed (so you fret with your left and pluck/pick with your right)
Knowing you'll be playing for a few hours with a sore arm, which one do you sacrifice to the soreness?
I'd go with the left, being a rightie. There is a lot else I'd want my right arm for.
