Funny thing is I found this when I went shopping a few months ago and put some money down on it because I've always liked this model…it's better than some people might believe.
When I went back to pick it up, I saw the Thundergun and took it for a spin…couldn't leave without it once I did.
Had to leave the Thunderbird behind.

I've got 30 basses. Too many to list and describe. Each time I play out, a different one gets picked. One is a favorite, however. The '58 Fender P clone. It's light (8 pounds), balanced, great tone, great playability, and looks great (to my tastes).

Today, the Fender Jazz Elite V. It’s my dedicated Sunday bass. I need the extended range for those P&W/Gospel keys.

Ask me tomorrow when I’m playing through some old school Louis Johnson lines or Teena Marie hits and I’m going with the MusicMan Caprice .

I like my Jazzes to be 70’s and my Precision’s 50’s. Total opposite ends of the spectrum in every regard.

2013 MIJ Fender 75 RI with Fender 74 Pure Vintage pickups

2015 Fender 50’s Classic Series Laquer Precision with EMG / GZR pickups

2018 Fender Road Worn Precision with Fender Pure Vintage 63 pickups

All with Elixir Nickel round wounds.

I run all tube amps most of the time.

All have been my number one, but after 20 years of Jazz basses I converted to Precision’s, and I don’t see going back anytime soon.

The Road Worn is top dog right at the moment.

Well...twice that I can remember and I didn't like either one right off the bat. When I was a kid, my Steinberger L2/5 really changed the way I played...very intuitive after we became friends. These days, and in very much the same fashion, the LTD B 1005-SE Multiscale. I feel like a kid again...

These are my three, 2011 Ric 4003, 1985 Westone Spectrum GT, and 2011 Squier VM Jaguar.

Today for me it's the Ric. Yesterday it was the Jag. Day before that the Westone. Each has its own tone and feel.

The Jaguar meets all my Fender needs, has a Jazz style neck and with the P pickup solo'd it's basically a cooler-looking P-bass. Block inlays, stacked knobs, matching headstock, even the Fender-badged Jags don't come with these features.

The Ric is awesome. Nothing sounds like a Ric, especially when I run it in stereo. I use it with my band 90% of the time, they like it, the audience likes it. I always wanted one and am happy with it.

The Westone is special, it was a gift when I was in high school and is what I learned most of my bass playing on. It was made in the Matsumoku factory in Japan and is the best-made of the three in terms of quality. Hotly wound humbuckers, it has a fairly thick tone, but is still bright enough with new strings. It's a great 80s bass but it's not weird looking so it fits in with anything. I've managed to keep it in good shape all these years with only one nasty ding. Whenever I pick up that bass it just feels like home to me.
