Which Bass do you most regret selling?

The only one I would even remotely want to have back is my first. It really wasn't anything special – just a Cort P clone in a two-tone sunburst that I bought during my formative teen years. I ended up trading it in on the purchase of my second bass, which is still with me decades later. I just remember the Cort being rather difficult to play, but back then, I didn't know a darn thing about strings or setups. I often wonder what it would be like to have that Cort back in my hands today.

I have one, or similar, did it have a German carve around the face? real good thumper.

A 1970s Natural Fender Precision fretless that I sold in 1986. It didn't have the best neck. High action. Low "mwah" factor. But I paid $200 for it. And I miss it. The 1980s G&L L-2000 I sold 10 years ago comes in a close second.

I put together a sort of replica of the fretless it from old parts but it's cursed by an even more warped neck.

I don't regret the decision to sell any of the basses I haven't kept; there was a reason each was sold. That said, if I had it to do over again I would likely keep the hollow-body Mosrite bass I sold in the early '80s. It was a late '60s bass found in a warehouse around 1976. I bought it in pristine condition, a sort of butterscotch burst thang goin' on. It was gorgeous with an arched, book-matched top and sounded fantastic. I just couldn't hang wit the exceptionally narrow string spacing and short scale, so I sold it. I may not sell it now as it is such a rare oddity.

I also need to mention my Fender Jaguar, it was a Japanese re-issue, the first re-issue since the Jag was dropped in 75. I bought it new for £750, it had an Alder body with Buttermint finish and tort pick guard and gold fittings, it came in a tweed looking Tolex case with all the candy. I've never been able to find another in that spec. If you're thinking of selling an axe, think really hard about it

I had a peavey forum PJ that I kinda regretted selling for a cross country move. I was bummed when I wanted to get playing again, but now I've built a parts bass I like better. So I'm over it :thumbsup:

I did have an ampeg B15 solid state (1st gen PF) that I sold. that's the one piece of gear i truly regret selling....:rollno:

I had a '91 Music Man Sabre, which I bought as new old stock after Music Man quit making them the first time. A store in Atlanta had one that never sold... black alder body with an all-maple neck, LOADED with birdseyes.

Even though the Sabre featured a spread of sounds I felt to be crummy and unusable, there was a cool factor about this bass that made me wish I hadn't sold it for several years. Might've had something to do with the fact that it was a discontinued model.

But I'm over it now... mostly. :smug:

The only bass I regret letting go was a '76 or '77 all black (bass and pickguard) Fender P. Not that I remember anything special about it, except it would've been nice to still have the same Precision that I owned during my high school years in the early 80s.
