Which bass should I use for this set list?

I'd go with the J because you get more versatility. It's easier to make a J sound like a P than the other way around. Also, I'd roll back the tone for some stuff. BTW, "Ain't Nobody" is in Eb. I always used a five for that when we played it. How you's guys doing it?
I voted P, but I'm rather biased 
I think the P suits those songs better YMMV.
To be fair, the Jazz could get the job done just as well though I suspect.

I use Jazz Basses with RW strings for the same style of music. They aren't Fender but still Jazz Basses. Great set list BTW.
If there's room on stage, why not take the P and the J with an A/B switch? If each has a strap it should take no more than 5 seconds to switch.
I try and take a P w/flats and a Jazz w/rounds on stage at every opportunity, unless we're only doing a few songs. That list looks more than long enough to justify switching.

I'm a Jazz bass guy all the way, but I chose the Precision.
You would want to emphasize thump with this setlist.

Yeah, I might've picked the P Bass if it had rounds on it - but could get the job done with either, no prob...

I guess I would use the P for a more interesting sound to try to make up for the awful setlist...
I think I'd go with a J for that stuff, for its more "modern" tone. Great setlist by the way, those songs are bound to get the crowd pumped.
Wow! I had no idea. Doesn't sound like Marcus to me. I guess his sound changed over the years or else I'm not used to hearing him mixed that way.
We play it in E. Makes life a whole lot easier!

I only use 5 string basses with round wound strings ... so that would be my choice. I usually bring 2 or 3 basses and a band usually plays 3 sets so I use a different bass for each set ... Or sometimes I play 1 bass all night.

I would've picked the P, also - except flats are a deal breaker for me... Besides, I get more than enough thump with my Jazz's in series...
