Which bass should I use for this set list?

Just a bit of fun guys but I can’t decide which bass to use for my gig next Friday. Here’s the set list and the choices are in the poll above.

Back up bass in the car will be a Squier P bass with rounds but fingers crossed I won’t need it. Any comment on the set list would be great too!

I would go with the P bass myself.

If it is a milder place and the overall sound of the band is lounge like then the Jazz for sure. If it the establishment is more of a dancing, drinking place and the band is reasonably hard driving, it has to be the “P”.

I would use the J cause it is the most versatile in my ears....

...but I am willing to bet that no one listening will know or care, so use which ever is the most comfortable to play that long

Especially live, the jazz because of the versatility.

To get more "thump" if you want to get "close enough for the audience" to the P with flats thing then you can solo the neck and roll off on your tone.

...I'm pretty certain that the P would work just fine too.

i picked P-bass, but i'd also roll with a jazz

I'd play at least 2 basses in that set.

Unless you guys have your time down to a couple seconds between songs.. I love playing 2-4 different basses in a given gig. I think it's fun. I'm playing tomorrow night and will be bringing

Spector Core Fretless w rounds
Dean 8 string
Ibanez Roadster 924 or Washburn B20.
and probably a Ric 4001 I'm trying to get used to.

You need to get comfortable with the changes, but I love playing all my different basses.

I voted Precision because I'm a set it and forget it guy on stage.

We are a band for people to dance to so we have got it down to miliseconds between each song so as not to lose people off the dance floor.

Makes total sense to pick one and run. I play rounds on my fretless so I get a very different tone than you probably do.. but if I ONLY play one bass at a gig. It's a fretless. I just like the added flexibility it gives.

My vote is for the fretless. Good luck on the gig.

I'm laughing at myself for still trying to decide WHICH 3 or 4 basses to bring tomorrow night. LOL

Jazz bass.....more options on tones for the type of set it is. Just my 1-1/2 cents worth...(play whatever you are comfortable with)

Weeellll, according to how you have them strung I went with Jazz. Otherwise, I'd say either. Only because to me, you can make rounds sound like flats, but not the other way around. You have the full gammut of tones on that set list, Palm mute or foam block will getcha flat tone. IMHO.

I'd bring both. But if that ain't an option. I'd go with the jazz. Some songs in your list need that roundwound grit.
