I want to like them, but some brightspark decided to sink an elongated Strat output jackplate randomly into the body, and mount a knob on the plate. It ruins what precious few lines that bass has.


I also dislike sunburst finishes on basses that look like they were made from three random planks of wood. No GAS here:

That ruins what could've been a very nice retro bass.
Not quite as bad as the Telecaster with its ridiculous abruptly-cut pickguard but still...

I have never gassed for Dingwalls or Spector.
Dingwalls looks to much like a race car and Spector is just meah looking.
Maybe I'm missing somthing.

And Gibson. It's like they are daring you to play them! Especially the Thunderbird. Notice you can't access the the entire neck? You can't get pass the 17th fret! Their head stocks break off. The neck joint ( hehehe..joint) splits. I won't be surprised if they start exploding! Stupid Gibson.

Sometimes, preferences change!

When I was a kid, there was no way I would *EVER* have cheese on a hamburger. Now, there is no way I would *EVER* have a hamburger without cheese!

Oh....and just so my post isn't a complete derail, I guess I need to indicate what bass or basses I have never GAS'ed for. Here's my list:

The Bongo
Single cut basses
Coffee table basses

Anything by Ibanez, Jackson, Schecter, Peavey or any of the others of that ilk. I have played some of their offerings and they do nothing for me. I stick to Fender/Squier and have flirted with Gibson/Epiphone and EBMM/Sterling a few times but retuned the basses. I did own an Ibanez SR300EB for a day which I ended up hating and cant figure out why I bought it. Temporary insanity I guess. I will for sure own a Rickenbacker one day though.

oddly enuf I just saw a Japan burst version, the body looked pretty ok, but the headstock still stinks
