Double Bass Which Bergantino cab should I use?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice from those of you who have experience with the Bergantino HT210 & HT115 cabs. I'm playing double in a Tom Waits tribute this Saturday hyper and am not sure which single cab would give me the "best" tone. If you're familiar with Mr. Waits' music, you know that the bass is usually very thumpy, deep, and present in the mix, which is what I'm going for. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using one cab vs. the other? Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated!

Cool, that's good to know. I'll have to sit down and A/B them.

Any idea about what sonic qualities are emphasized by each cab? Are the differences even substantial enough to be audible in a full band setting?

The HT115 is a bit more mid-focused and punchy, especially in the low mids. The HT210 is a bit wider-sounding, and slightly scooped in the mids. While I like them both separately, the two really shine when used in conjunction, IME/IMHO.

I'm not sure if it's an option for you, but I picked up a Berg AE210 for the more "high volume" gigs and it's totally killing. To my ears, it's more "even" and "flat" than the HT210, and I like that for double bass.

I like the AE210 also although for upright stuff foam in the port. It tightens up and gets rid of any boominess. Works well on the AE112 as well. Bergantino is making great enclosures.

It was for precisely this reason that I didn't buy one of the AE112's. IME with the Baby Blue 2X8 extension cabinet and the Flite 2x8 MH, both rear ported cabs, when you put them into tight spaces close to the wall of a club things got totally weird. How dense is the foam? Dosen't blocking the port kind of defeat it's intended purpose? I know that in newer rear ported cabs like the Epifain's and Bergantino's, the port is tuned very low, so maybe it dosen't have the effect on sound that it would have had on cabinets built years ago, and since most of us use low cut filters anyway,we're probably rolling off the frequences that the port was designed for in the first place!

Ports increase efficiancy which is not an issue for the places I play plus my amp puts out 500w. I'm using 1" Auralex Foam rolled up. I think most any foam would work. Try it.
