Which coated strings

Picked up a jaco copy from the classifieds with a defretted, epoxied rosewood board. I don't have any specific tonal goals. I know i want rounds on it and I'm just interested in coated strings mainly for reduced finger noise. Any ideas what will give me that nice jaco burp like roto 66's, but coated? An obvious answer is to go with pressurewounds, but iv never really tried coated strings and I want to. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I have DiAddario Nylons on my P bass, sound great !!! Absolutley no fret snd string noise ! I play them with foam mute under bridge for old Motown sound, or pull out the fosm if I want mire sustain.

Elixer Polywebs if you can find them. I scored a few sets off ebay a few months back. They sound great and last forever. Nanowebs kind of suck.

I would also recommend the Dragon Skins. Toughest coating I've encountered so far. Been playing non-stop for almost a month and they still don't show any wear.

The Dragon Skins just didn't have the liveliness the DR stainless generally have. I'm also not really a stainless guy. Ken Smith stainless have been my favorite so far.

Dang, I tried Smiths before the Skins and found the Smiths to be pretty tame and lifeless in comparison. Weird! I normally don't like Steels either, but D Skins are phenomenal and have a little smoother feel than most steels.

It is the same I think. Definitely not as slick as the plastic type coating on Elixirs, and not as smooth as nickels, but less sticky than uncoated steel strings.

Exp reds seem interesting.

Sorta acoustic-y sounding rounds on a fretless jazz bass sounds intriguing.

I'm curious about EXPs now, though I'm very skeptical that something that costs a third the price of Nanowebs would compare favorably. Though at that pricing, I'll likely take the plunge in the near future.

Which brings me to the point of this thread; Nanowebs all day long.

I haven't tried Polywebs, but the description is much less exciting to my eyes when compared to Nanowebs.

Is comfortably smooth with less finger squeak

Ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating...

Has the bright tone and punch of traditional strings
Feels more like traditional strings

I finally voted...for Elixir Steels. After trying all of the strings mentioned (except Bootzillas...haven't heard good things), the Elixirs would be my favorites from that list because they are the closest sounding to DR Dragon Skins, but have a slicker feel and tighter tension.

I love the Elixir steels. I've been switching all my bass (except those with flats) to them.
They gave me a set to try, I put them on my #1 and a year and a half later they're still on and going strong!

That's exactly where I was until I tried the Elixer nanos. Now I have two favorite strings!
