I voted for a black guard and I'm not normally a black guard guy. Here's a '78 Jazz Bass in Transparent Wine Red that I used to own. Awesome bass in incredible condition...just way too heavy for me so I sold it.

Recently saw one using a clear pickguard on a Fender P bass style body (the name and model escape me though) It it looked pretty dope...It was an orange candy paint on it, but if the pickguard should be thick enough to show a "ghosted" white outline of a pickguard. But that's my .02 on this subject though

EDIT: Found a pic of it...and I was TOTALLY wrong, but couldn't find the Orange one....But from what I found, it's a Sandberg.

yep, the 4 dots near the neck pocket is the Sandberg logo. Also the bridge design is Sandbergs own.

Do you like contrast?

Pure white has high contrast and stands out.

Cream or perloid blends in more.

Black dullens and darkens the overall view.

Tort may clash with wine red unless it's very carefully selected and then it will tend to disappear.

So, what effect do you like?

We don't matter!

PS: I would go for a creamy perloid

Peace
