Which colour pickguard for a wine red Jazz?

We just did a tort on burgundy burst (close to wine):

Parchment, with black tug bar on the treble side of the strings. Add black Jazz Bass knobs instead of chrome barrel knobs and you have a classy, understated vintage look.

^^^^^^^ Seeing that tort with a white edge, I'm torn now, that's friggin gorgeous. Has to be brown tort though, red a little too garish for my taste, and definitely with the white ply, otherwise it would fade into the body color. Add a bound and blocked neck, and I'm SOLD.

Looks like it has a very thin black layer in it like a vintage Fender piece? Are you working with Spitfire?

With a wine red bass you have to be careful to match the tort to both the colour of the bass and the hue of the fretboard I suppose.

I like white pearloid. Black is okay, but it goes with a rosewood fingerboard like brown shoes and black pants. Barring pearloid, parchment.

I voted "Other" so I could suggest parchment. Not glaring white. Somewhere between white and cream. It looks great on nearly any color.

White was an option, but I'd go with White Pearloid, so checked "other."

That being said, I had a black/gray pearloid on my Candy Apple Red Squier Musicmaster at one time and I really liked that.

If you had a Jazz Bass with Pearloid blocks, I would say a white pickgard would complement them.

Otherwise I like a black pickgard on red body.

I put black pearloid on a Red Wind Jazz with rosewood. But it was just for the sake of changing out the white. No other good reason I think at the time.

The black guard reminds me of a non-export Aerodyne Jazz, classy look too. The bottom line seems to be that most colors look good against wine red.
