Which Flat Wounds to Begin With?

I'm not an advanced player, but I just put a set of Ernie Ball Flats on my P-Bass and absolutely love them. I've tried D'addarios and now Balls and I think I like the Balls better.
Great string huh? That's what my CV Squier Pbass is wearing! After about a month or so a lot of the growly zing goes away and becomes a nice smooth well rounded flat. Kinda miss the zing and growl however.

My all time favorite flats are the Labella 760FL's.

However, I am interested in trying the new Ernie Ball Flats. Just don't know if they'll be too stiff or not.[/QUOTE

About two weeks ago I put Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats with a .130 B string on my Fender AS P5 and I'm very happy with the results. The strings are slippery smooth for sliding, the strings "broke-in" as far as staying in tune quickly, about three days, these strings sound really cool/thumpy/precise and are even an odd, deep, gun metal grey in color. Overall, so far, for me, two thumbs up for Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats!

I'm not sure what they are called, but a few weeks ago I was at a guitar center and there was a Music Man Stingray double H that had these black - almost plastic feeling - strings on them and they were really smooth like flats.

It gave the stingray this amazing thump and organic tone.

Maybe these will sound familiar to someone?
If someone. hasn't mentioned it to you. Those black strings were probably DR Black Beauties. Ive wanted to try them because they would look good an a bass I have, but was wary of how they'd sound and feel. Might give them a shot.

I played guitar before switching to the bass years ago. I was always an Ernie Ball guy. So I went with what I knew. I've tried a few different (flat) brands, but keep coming back to the EB 2806 Group III which are 45-65-80-100. For me they sound great, feel great, last forever, and are under $30. The last brand I tried before switching back was the GHS "Bright Flats". I didn't really care for those. The D and G strings felt and sounded more like a round-wound. I haven't tried the LaBella strings. I may now after reading the comments about them.
