How come no one just gets a bigger screw?...This is how I fixem..though I have used toothpicks and wood glue also.....

I've been using use longer screws for quite a while, as I mentioned in post #32.
head. i looked all over for a screw at the local hardware stores. either the head wouldn't fit or the shaft was too thin.
Roger that. I've gone with a similarly-threaded #8 screw but, invariably, the head is too large to fit within the recess. No problem. I just grind off the screw shoulder / edge with my Dremel tool. For that fact, I've used the Dremel's wood carving bits to flush-mount Dunlop strap receivers.

i need to get a dremel tool or a grinding wheel. my brother has one but his shop is a half hour away and he's really fussy about me using his tools.
The Craftsman series works just as well and accepts all Dremel accessories. I hang mine from an old IV pole and use the flexshaft 90% of the time.

You can chick the screw in a drill, and hold the head against a file.
Drillpress is better, if you have access, but a powered hand drill will do fine.
