Which Ibanez would you buy

It's an '03 made in the Cort factory. $130. I guess you would call it slate blue. Hardly a scratch on it. No belt buckle scratches or anything. The only thing wrong is the bridge and knobs look tarnished. I don't know if that will clean up or not. Just adjusted the truss rod and the string height and it plays great. I've got new strings that I will put on and set the intonation and I should be set.

Have Ibanez from the mid 70's to soundgears from the pre indonesian current period, one indonesian, the later is a very thin neck, lot of trouble setting the neck and wishing it to remain stable, not hopeful. Very reluctant to acquire any further indonesian SR's. The Korean basses i have here are ok, so i think you made a safe buy there and at that price its even better. Enjoy your bargain. Regards.

I got her all cleaned up, new strings, intonation, glued the headstock lament that was a bit loose and tightened some loose screws. I recon automobiles and found that a polishing compound that I use removed the tarnished looking stuff on the knobs and bridge. Took some buffing but they look great now. Here are a few pics.

Congratualtions hope you like her. She cleaned up pretty good.

Good Luck!

I have an SR885. When I got it the electronics were shot so I replaced them with Basslines and a SD 2 band EQ. It sounded good and still does, despite its little airline incident. Yet it spends most of its time in its case. Why?

THOSE NECKS ARE WAY TOO THIN

Personally I'm not an Ibanez fan, but if I were to buy another I'd pick the one that has the most Fender-like neck. Those wafer thin necks are a pain.

Bah! Some of us with little girl hands like the thin necks! :smug:

If my experiment with an older Ibanez works out, I may be switching over Ibbys only from now on.

I don't think I have especially small hands but this neck feels great to me. I played a 4001 for years and really liked that neck too but I can't remember how it felt. I know it was narrow at the nut. The one thing I have noticed is that after sitting a couple of days it needs tuning. My LB75 can sit for a month and still be in tune.

There was an SRX390 on craigslist when I was looking that I wanted to try but our schedules kept conflicting and we never got together and it sold. He was only asking $125 for it too. I played one at a local music store and really liked it. The neck was just a bit chunky but it's something I could easily get used to.

I wouldn't buy any of them. I've played every one that you mentioned and that's why I wouldn't buy any of them.

You need to just go to the store and play them all and determine which one you like best for yourself. We can't help you on that.
