Which is the overall better company?

Used Peavey combos are nice.

I am trying to stay away from Peavey at the moment. I have had a few problems with them in the past. Also, I will be buying new.

It's a great combo, but quite far from the OP's budget.

OP: I'd say the GK or an Ampeg B100R.

I have read about there being a few driver problems with the MB series. Has anyone heard anything about this?

I have used GK for 7 years and have never had a problem. I contacted customer support when I bought the cabinets because two of the plastic corner pieces were cracked during shipping. They sent me replacements at no cost.

You can get a clean sound or the growl they are famous for.

I like Eden but I have heard that quality has been an issue in recent years.

I'd be buying used local .. kickback with a useable DI...

There are Edens, Hartke, GK and Peavey that all do this...

Not an option on a limited budget, but Phil Jones is the greatest amp manufacturer with incredible service. I've had good luck with GK over the years, and they make some pretty good stuff for someone on a low budget. If you've got access to a good local music store they should be able to steer you in the right direction, and may have some great used gear deals.

You're pretty limited at that price point, especially if it is got to be new.

Either GK or give an Ampeg B112 a tryout.

If that was my price range, I'd get a used Peavey TNT or an Ampeg B100.

I am very happy with my SWR SM head and GoLight cabs! I am getting an SWR 810 too for the casino gigs we do. I have played many amps and nothing has satisfied me like the SWR. The SM series is great!

People always talk about the scooped sound and cutting out the mids... well, No one seems to think about backing off the Aural Ehanser. I set mine to 10 'O clock and I get a lot of cut through punchy power. Love it!

I am a big fan of Genz-Benz but I can't afford anything from them right now. With Christmas coming up I am short on money and can only afford around $350 for a new combo.

For that money you are real close to a GK MB115 or can certainly get a MB112. No money better spent.
