In the book version of the LotR, Eowyn is pretty much the only strong woman. I know, Professor Tolkein was a product of his times, and all that, but still... LotR is one hell of a Sausage Party.

And lets not forget that Eowyn speds most of the book hiding as a man....

That being said, if the world of LOTR is based on feudal society, which kinda most fantasy is, then it stands to reason that women wouldnt have a very important role in all that's adventure and military. I kinda hated what they did with Arwen in the films. Then again i kinda hate the films in general.

I would say Galadriel is a strong woman figure. But she's also an unmeddling elf.

Women do make a better showing in The Silmarilion, but honestly, even there, we're mostly inspiration and support. I really liked the character of Tauriel in the most recent Hobbit film... she at least gives girls a seat at the table.

Don't know, I fell asleep during it.

They should make people watch that stuff instead of giving them Ambien.

Not sure why you'd post something so negative in a simple, feelgood thread about a book/film that many people love. Isn't that....y'know...trolling?

If you're not a fan, fine. Go start a 'who doesn't like a Lord Of The Rings' thread

Insert appropriate smiley here.

Or a 'who thought the Lord of the Rings was not amazing?' thread
