No offense, but the man can raise his son the way he sees fit. And unless the boy has his own money, There's nothing wrong with the parent choosing his next instrument. If I was 15 playing an Ibanez and my dad came home with a Quantum 5, I'd have a heart attack!
Sounds like he's got a pretty good Dad!

It isn't a question of how this guy raises his son, it's simply a matter of getting used to the idea that not every instrument suits every person. There are certain basses that I find extremely uncomfortable to play for ergonomic reasons. And what, because dad is paying for the bass he can't ask his son what he thinks? But yes, this guy does sound like a pretty cool father...
