Which PG for my 'stang (no tort)

Mine is on the UPS truck right now, but it looks just like this one. I don't like tort so it's gotta go. Opinions please.

Well here is what the white would look like with white pearloid:

My stang with new pickguard, tugbar and covers.

Also, there is routing under the pickguard, as I remember. It{s an ugly channel going from the the pups to the control cavity, so clear wouldn{t be an option.



The rosewood might be cool because it could look like a continuation of the fretboard.
What about (non reflective) gold? It would match the amber of the neck. 50's Rickenbacker style.

That's what I'm leaning torwards. Now it's between solid black, matte black, brushed black, black/white/black, or black/white/black/white/black.

Solid or 3-ply are always nice. 5-ply is a bit much IMO.

Doing my best to respect your tort opinion... but I think tort is the quintessential choice.

That said, I vote black. Very classy.

I didn't think I'd like the stock tort, either.

But after I've owned the same bass for 6 months, I've decided that the tort stays.

My biggest problem with black PG's is that they show every scratch and finger print, just like a car. It probably doesn't bother some, but it really bugs me.

I am partial to the looks of white on white. I would go with whatever matches the guitars finish the closest. I voted "cream" in the poll.

I'm also looking for a replacement pickguard for my new bass because I'm not a Tort fan. In my case, it's a cream-colored Gibson EB Bass. Gibson describes the pickguard as a "red tortoise" but it comes off looking more brownish to me.

For me, I'm think I want to add a little more color to give it some life. I like red, but would prefer a darker shade than what the plain "red" appears to be. I'm thinking of possibly going with a red pearloid. Here is what the bass looks like with the tort.

This is easy -- first, tort rules! But, since you're an oddball and don't like it, get the AGED white perloid. The regular white perloid is too white. The aged one will look much better.
