Or "I'll do a grande macchiato..." "Do"? You're not doing anything, the barista is doing all the work.I love it when the man-baby in line ahead of me gets up to bat and goes, "Yeah, lemme grab a tall dark roast with..."

Thank you."She cuts through the mix like buttah". Gosh, I could write couple of paragraphs about these sorts of things. I won't.
LOL, I played gigs I have to check twice if the audience was alive.“Filmed before a live audience.”
I certainly hope so !!!![]()
Weight is the one that annoys me.It matters to some people. Would it be ok to post B&W pics of the instrument and not mention the color? What? Like a green bass is going to play different notes?
Agreed, but it takes two with that one. If you're selling a bass on TB classifieds and you don't include the weight within the 1st post, youre just an enabler. Or a masochist. Or it's your first day. You gotta know some tire-kicker's gonna chime in with "WEIGHT?"Weight is the one that annoys me.
We're just having some lighthearted fun and blowing off steam.Yay another thread about personal annoyances.. of which there are no shortcomings.Could we order some natural disasters, hunger, and poverty for these people? OR perhaps the dysfunctional family they never had. It might alleviate their symptoms.
In other words.. find something to be grateful about and share it instead imo.
Everybody stuck on being Debbie Downer...
+1. A digital scale is inexpensive and a potential buyer can't tell the weight from a photo.Agreed, but it takes two with that one. It's against TB policy to post an ad sans photo. It wouldn't be a stretch to also require a weight estimate. 1st post.
Not on the list but annoying nonetheless:
“It’s got endless mojo!”

Lame line.Actually some older shows were filmed without an audience, with a laugh track added. You could always tell which ones, because the laughter in the laugh track was used when the actor's comments really weren't that funny.
I think that it's interesting how words and phrases come in and out of vogue. Nowadays, if a scientist or politician wants to sound like he's got a handle on a situation, he'll say they're developing a robust response. Robust. I don't remember ever hearing that word, outside of a coffee ad, as often as I hear it now.
Robust.
"Going ballistic" swept through the culture like wildfire around 1990.
As you say these bits of stock phraseology can become deeply embedded very quickly.
A corollary are stock homilies that become wildly familiar and popular to the point of being sudden cliches.
Two such lyrics that found their way into pop songs of their moment were John Lennon's "Life is what happens while you're making other plans" from the song Beautiful Boy, and Kurt Cobain's "Just because you're paranoid don't mean they're not after you" from Nevermind. Both lyrics were contemporary cliches at the time they came out, although, predictably enough, I've seen both lyrics repackaged as earnest and profound memes lately, and both cliches attributed to their respective hacks, neither of whom coined the phrases.
How about restaurants that describe a menu item as “home-made”.Or "world famous" (most often, little hole in the wall restaurants) anything that isn't world famous.
Oh man I laughed so hard when I read this as it was the first thing that came to mind if only because I knew through a previous thread like this where it surprised me that this one irritates a lot of folks.Plays like buttah!
