...I was just curious about strictly aesthetic opinions.
If you MUST get a bass that looks like piece of an antique phonograph from the 70's...

then get the black one. It's the lesser of 3 evils, IMO.

I already have it. Funny story, the salesmen tried to charge me for the case. He said "WC" on the tag meant worn cherry, even though 1) mine is worn brown, 2) this bass is supposed to come with a case, and 3) WC means with case. It made me chuckle.
 
Nice bass and great choice. Yes the tonal variety is a bit limited due to it being short scale, but you should be able to get a wide variety of tones using the pickup selection, tone controls, playing with a pick or fingers and your amp settings. Also these basses work great using effects, like fuzz or overdrive.

For someone that lists disco as one of their favorite genres, I'd think you'd like something that looks like a 70's phonograph, even though it doesn't.
For what it's worth the sg shape has a bad ass look that has aged more gracefully than any of the Fender basses. imo.
