Which squier 5 string?

im looking at getting a new 5er, the 3 i have in mind are

Squier Affinity Jazz - Invalid Link Removed

Squier Deluxe Jazz -

Squier VM Jazz -

I play pretty much everything from jazz and funk to OTT metal stuff
Im asking because i'd be buying blind, i cant get access to any of them, although i have played the Deluxe before and liked it a lot.
Any help would be much appreciated

I can highly recommend the Deluxe Jazz V, as its been my gigging bass for the past 18 months or so, but i would like to try the VM 5 String when i get chance.

I never knew they offered a VM JV...I'd very much prefer the 'looks' of that one. However, I have owned both the Affinity and Deluxe V's; and I prefer the Affinity over the Deluxe as far as feel is concerned. The Affinity has a thicker, rounder neck profile, more in tue with a Standard Fender JV. The Deluxe has a really wide neck with a 2.02 width at the nut. A bit too wide for MY tastes. But it sounds friggin fantastic!

I actually had 2 Affinity V's in the past....and am considering a 3rd in Sunburst. But if the VM's are as sweet as they look, then that would be the one for me.

+1 this is me exactly. I love the ebonol fingerboard.

the VM 5 is brand new. I want one (used to have a vm4 & loved it)

My main bass is an Affinity V that I've modified with an Audere. The B string is solid with even response from every note and volume and tone consistent with the other strings. I usually prefer 35" scale five strings, but this bass has changed my mind.

They are out already? I gotta get to some stores to check them out. Definitely interested, especially if the neck profile is the same as the Affinity.

I would go for the VM, too, mostly to be a twin to my 4 string VM Jazz.

I had an Affinity V for a short while and it had a nice neck and played well. I have since gone back to 4's and have both a VM Jazz and VM Jaguar and I'm blown away by the Squier VM series. Superb bang for your buck!
