Definitely the g...

The reason that Dingwall fans there frets is so that the scale length of the G is shorter and the scale length of the E is longer. This evens out the tension, and therefore the tone and feel are even across the strings.

In most sets it's the D that has most tension, followed by the A. In some sets it's the A. This seems true of most brands and types. Also look at the D'Addario tension pdf to get a good idea of what's what.

Thomastik strings have a D string that has the most tension, except for the Jazz Rounds which have the G string with the most tension. In every set, if the D doesn't have the most tension, it's the G that does.

I always assumed G, but it generally is D. (heavier than G, with almost as much force (from higher tuning) compared to A?)

From what I have heard, it's generally the D string.
