Currently playing TIJF's on my '08 CS '59 P and D'Addario nickel rounds on my '08 MIA P (with a OV pup). I had been using chromes as my flats choice.... and they are a great choice as well..... but I really love the tone of broken in TIJF's.

The cheapest lightest gauge roundwound strings available at my local music store...because they are easy to set up and easy to play. And I'm a cheap son of a Scotsman.
Me too. I have Chromes on other basses, but the P5 gets LaBellas.
Had flats and liked the sound but too muddy with the whole band. Just put on a set of DR Marcus Miller Fats. Sound nice so far. Highs are there when you dig in and lows thump through nicely.
Just had band rehearsal with my new PF500 paired with two SVT410he cabs and my American Special P. Great sound to say the least, but I'm lacking a smooth midrange. The Powerslinkies sound good, but they're missing some midrange. The lows are definitely good, the highs are so-so, and the midrange is just not good enough. Going to try Chrome Flats.
This is what I've most recently tried on my P. I switched from Dean Markley Blue Steels for something different, and the results are good so far. I still like the Blue steels, and while the Hibeams werent as bright out of the box they seem to have held their brightness and tone for a little longer.
I use Steve Harris flatwounds that I got when I bought my Roger Waters P-Bass (I've tried 5 other types of strings but endup with these back on: now they are going NOWHERE!)
My P is sporting D'Addario tapewounds. Nice compromise between flats and rounds, though I can't dial in that huge fat Pino-ish sound...for that I have to go back to LaBella Deep Talkin' flats (760FL).

For flats I like Daddario Chromes 45 -100 on my 4 string P bass - that is what I play most of the time.
For rounds I like DR Sunbeams

I always use D'Addario nickelwounds (.50-.105). Love the feel, bright tone and durability.

I use the older Fender 7250's, the older Fender tapewound, LaBella flats and Ernie Ball super slinkies with a power slinky E tuned drop D.
Tried em all, and TI's win every time. LaBella's were great sounding but not as mid present and very tense. I have been downright spoiled by TI Jazz Flats. Honestly, I have tried VERY hard to like other strings but after about a week the TI's always come back on.
90% of the time I use Rotosound 66 steels. I have a Squier that I keep flats on as well, that rarely ever gets played, so I swap between Rotos a step down and the flats.
I liked Ernie Ball hybrid Slinkies on my American Standard, though. The 66 are just a very bright, yet mid present string that kills it for me. Perfect for a "hard rock" pick tone that sits right where I want it- not in front, but heard. They also get gnarly with fingers as well when you dig in, or they're just a bright mid present string.
