Which strings do you put on your Precision and why?

The cheapest lightest gauge roundwound strings available at my local music store...because they are easy to set up and easy to play. And I'm a cheap son of a Scotsman.

Chromes on most of my P basses. One P bass has TIJF a five+ year old set and one has DA' Tapes. Not sure about those tapes...might be too zingy for me.

I prefer D'Addario's regular light gauge (45-100), been putting them on all my P basses for years.

All my basses wear D'Addario Chromes. That's 2 Fender Precisions and 1 G&L Legacy (P bass), 2 L2000s, and my new SB-2.

For a band I play in with a Fender Am Std P that tunes to C# (or tuned one and a half step down on all strings) I have been using DR DDT Heavy 55 75 95 115. The tension is good for the situation but the string in general just always sound like, dead, even right out of the box. I was going to try Circle K but the strings for down tuning cannot go through the body so I am going to maybe try one of the Dunlop Heavy packs.

Go for the Circle K's! Sacrificing whatever difference there may or may not be going through-body is a small (or non-existent) price to pay for the Circle-K goodness... Just my opinion, but I love my Circle K's.

I currently have Sadowsky Black Labels (my fav), but I've also had TI Jazz flats and Pyramid Gold flats which sound great in their own way.

DR rounds... last forever and can go from thumpy (Tone rolled off all the way) to more modern/aggressive tones by opening up the tone control a little - to a lot.

Back when I had a p-bass I would always use Rotosound R-66's. As for the reason why it's because that is what I use on all of basses.

TI flats - '08 Am Std P = buttery tone, sweet mids & can get growly when I need it
I've had them on for 5 years... they keep getting better with age

Rosewood fingerboard P-Bass- TI-JF344 or the new Fender
9050-flats.
The Fender are a little brighter, the TI-flats more mid-range.

Maple fingerboard P-Bass - DR Sunbeams.

I use Fender nickle flat wounds, but I prefer the sound of a flat wound string on any bass....
