Of course! She was Ray Brown's wife and an icon, in her own right, of Broadway, television and clubs. You probably don't remember, but I'll bet she sang a line or two just for you as she held you.

This might be a little too late to bring up but, I think the part of icons we've seen, should of been limited to those we can't see anymore, ether because they retired from playing or died.
For instance a lot of guys posted they've seen B.B. King. Icon? Of course, but he still tours regularly and you can still catch his shows. Muddy Waters, icon. But last I heard, he ain't touring.

Congressional Medal of Honor... had entire towns renamed after him/her... the subject of a PBS "American Masters" profile... discussed in children's schoolbooks throughout the land... a household name to everyone from your average, run-of-the-mill teenager to your 89-year-old aunt... you get the idea...
