Which Wireless System?

The X2 has no companding system to smush up the sound. And it does sound identical to a cable, it really does. It is all that and a bag of chips. Having said that, I'd still record with a cable, if for no other reason than it uses up batteries a lot quicker than it claims.

The Sabine even offers 70 channels vs. the 5 that the X2 offers. It is pricier, but averages just less than $1000 USD here in the States, so it shouldn't be too much more in the EU, given the strength of the Euro right now.

Check into it. At least it is another option.

Checked it out and the product seems very nice. However the price is over $2000 here in EU which makes the Shure ULX cheaper.
I can get the Freebass here for $550 which is apx the same price u pay in the states for an X2.
That's more my cashframe.
Too bad that the Freebass freq response is not optimal for bass.

Define "regrets." If you mean will it work well and sound just like a cable, then you won't have any regrets. If you mean does the 11 hour battery life they claim really translate to 5 or 6, you might have a small regret. If you mean does the plastic box it comes in break if you slam it down on the pavement really hard, then you will definitely have regrets.

Well I mean compared to the other X2s.... will I regret not getting a higher end model than the SD95?

I got the XDS-Plus since I'm the bass player and the sound man. Let's me walk to the back of the room and hear the mix including the bass.

I got the -Plus for more range while checking out the sound at a venue.

It's been working great for me and my 5-string Spector.

I go against everybody here...

I purchased a X2 XDS95. This thing colors the sound SO MUCH it is ridiculous. Seriously, specially low lows and high highs.

Now, don't come with "what you hear was there, your cable was taking it off" because I used the same cable to connect the receiver to my amp.

To me it is not the digital transmission part, but the cheap A/D D/A converters.

I am returning it tomorrow.

Everybody here has been loving the unit, and I couldn't hear a difference when I tried one out either. Could you have perhaps gotten a bum unit?

Difficult to imagine, since these are digital. If something were to be wrong, 5 imagine it would be VERY wrong (no sound, crazy digitai distortion, etc).

Could be that people love it because of the "extended frequency response". It doesn't sound bad, actually pretty impressive lows and highs, specially with passive basses. So sometimes it can sound "better" than a cable. That's exactly the problem... If I take the cable out of the receiver and plug directly to my bass, I expect to hear the same sound.

Even in the information they provide they say the unit doesn't send full range signal, that you need to use TRS ring signal to get full range, etc. and they say this was done because most people would be surprised "to discover frequencies the cable was removing" or something like that. Well, I am still using a cable to connect the unit to my amp... So if the unit is really transparent, I shouldn't hear nothing more than I hear when I connect my bass directly to this exact same cable!

I live in the UK, whats the best wireless I can buy in the EU since the X2 doesn't seem to be an option for us!

P.S - I found these two systems, what do you guys and girls think?
