I'm a bass PLAYER, not a collector. I'll take the bass which makes me want to play it.A vintage bass that will almost assuredly go up in value, due to the fact it's old and in great condition but will never play or sound exactly like you want it to, and does very little to inspire you to play.
OR...
A "new" bass that takes cues from a few iconic brands, plays and sounds better than the vintage bass, and inspires you to pick it up more often, but it will never reach the heights monetarily that the vintage bass will.
Which would you rather have?
My real answer is New; I'd rather have a Bass that I can actually Play, not just to sit in a corner and "observe" it.Play what you enjoy playing.A vintage bass that will almost assuredly go up in value, due to the fact it's old and in great condition but will never play or sound exactly like you want it to, and does very little to inspire you to play.
