Which would you suggest??

Going to buy one of these this weekend. I'm looking for a decent power/sounding light weight cab for practice.

I know it's all subjective but hoping to get some buy in here from as many players as possible.

The above are all used.

Playing mainly Rock style and using either a Carvin R1000 or Hartke LH1000 with a Geddy or other Jazz.

I wouldn't call the Ampeg SVT 15E light weight ... so I voted for the Epifani

Curios if you are looking at the Epifani UL-112 at the Indianapolis GC. If so you should know that it is actually a Epifunky 112. GC is notorious for mislabeling their high end bass gear because no one there actually knows what it is.

I would still vote for the epi anyways as the Epifunky is still miles better than the alternatives presented in this poll, at least imho, but you should know what you are buying.

Yeah, that is it and I did go round with the manager. It is an Epifunky UG112 or so the model stamp on the back says. I can't find anything any where on a Epifunky UG112. I did try it out and has very good tone and handles a low B pretty well. Came with a very nice cover. So with full coverage over blown speaker and everything else for 14months out the door $235. And it weighs about 25lbs.

So good deal or not???

Also, if any one has any info on a UG112 I'd like to hear from you.

I still think it is a good deal. I had been considering buying that cab for a while. Only reason I didn't was I got a great deal on some berg cabs.

Most important is that you played on it and liked the tone. That price for a good 112 is a great deal.

Let us know how it works out.

The epi's a good deal if a 112 can do what you need to do. I'd need a pair of them for most any gig where rock is being played even if you are DI'ed.

So I received a email from Nick Epifani. The cab is actually a UG112. These are demo models they sent to dealers and never produced as they started the UL series. The cab had great tone and handled the low end well. Unfortunately, couldn't push enough for practice with the drums. Wish I had the cash to keep it, but funds are tight so the search will continue.

Was powering the cab with a Carvin R1000 in bi-amp mode, plenty of power.

Thinking of maybe a Carvin BR210. At $229 shipped NEW, 400W @ 8ohm, doesn't seem too bad.

Never played through a Carvin cab, but it does look like a nice cab and at that price I would say it is worth a try. I will say that in a single cab situation playing with a drummer I would rather have the 210 over the 112. I have a 210 and a 112 that I play in a stack, but if I am going to a friends house to play for fun or practice, I only ever take the 210.

As a stack I have never been happier with the combination despite what so many people on here say about matching cabs and speaker size. To me the 112 on top and 210 on bottom sounds great, but I do think the 210 puts out a little more than the 112.

You might find it a good deal to hold on to the 112 and look for a epi 210 used. those two together would be a monster. I have seen the epifunky 210's going for around $200 used.

Of course that is if you have the cash and need the volume. I bought mine having neither the cash or need.... but they sound so awesome I just had to have them

I rehearse in a rock band with a good single 12” cab and it more than handles it so the EPI is a great choice. Great price by the way.
The Carvin BR10 is a decent cab for that price, it won’t have the same quality speakers as the EPI but it does have TWO of them, so the cab should give you plenty of output.
If you like the sonic characteristics of a 210 over a 112, then get the Carvin. I don’t however, my preference is 12” cab(s).
Some people say a single, good quality 12” cab isn’t enough for rehearsals but those people practice too dang loud IMO.
Unless you rehearse in a concert hall with mic’d drums, anybody playing louder than the drummer is dumb and this is why a single quality 12” cab, say with 200w going into it, is plenty.
Tell the drummer to hit his bass drum hard, then adjust your volume to his bass drum. Then have the rest of the band adjust to the bass and the drums. WALA!! Good mix is the result.

4banger...was that UG112 used? I just got one used from GC in GA, and it seems to work for my purposes. Only 30 pounds, and handles low B. I wonder how many of these were made. When I spoke with Nick Epifani 2 weeks ago, he said that these were made for the dealers to introduce the new Epifunky line. Weird how they didn't keep this 112 with the rest of the line.
