So many good whiskeys now. For value I like Dickel 12. If money’s no object I like Weller Antique 107 or Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve.

I love single malt and bourbon, I have many favorites. Here are a couple...
My wife is a big Larceny fan.
She won't touch a beer for anything, but she has developed a taste for whiskey. We live about an hour from KY, so we drop occasionally drop down for a weekend of distillery touring. There are quite a few distilleries popping up in OH, but they have a ways to go to catch up to our southern neighbors.
I can’t drink anymore because it interferes with my heart meds, but when I did, bourbon was my preference. The sweet stuff like Knob Creek is good, but the main thing is a good proof. Jack Daniels was actually a good product, in spite of the high-end snobs, before inBev bought it and diluted it to 80 proof. InBev reasoned that most people who bought Jack Daniels wouldn’t know the difference, and they could save a ton of cost by adding more distilled water. George Dickel 12 is still a good product, or was the last I tried it, and I know, technically it isn’t bourbon.
I would love to see how many can distinguish between Woodford Reserve and Jim Beam of the same proof with blindfolds on.

It’s funny I think it became so popular because of the John Wick series of movies and it’s almost unibtanium at this point. We have a couple of bottles in reserve that we won’t open, but I just opened a bottle of Buffalo Trace (10min ago
) and it is amazingly smooth and very similar. It is obtainable, so that’s our new goto 
Not a big Whiskey fan, although on a rare occasion, I've done a George Dickle and coke a time or two, so I can't say never. But taking a sip of straight Whisky to savor the flavor, uh, that is a hard no.
Now I can do a sip to savor on a nice Cabernet, but that is as far as I get, and NEVER on a gig. Gads, I have enough problems with my meter as it is.

Here in Kentucky I haven't seen Blanton's for sale in years and Buffalo Trace & Weller are getting to be the same. I’ve gotten into making cocktails at home, and there are some fantastic bourbon cocktails out there. I’ve made my fair share of Manhattans and Old Fashioneds, but I made this one last night and it was very drinkable.

I'll do the occasional Manhattan with a rye, or even Binny's store-brand, and I like a good rye old-fashion, but other than that, no pop or syrup for me.
At the moment, Jameson Black Barrel and Mortlach 12 are open and consumed about 1:1, for when I'm not doing martoonies or Caesers.

If circumstances allow during a show (such as not having to drive afterwards or having a hotel close by) I’ll sometimes have some Maker’s Mark neat or maybe a couple stout beers. These days though I’m much more likely to have non-alcoholic drinks onstage like coffee or carbonated water drinks like Topo Chico.
Maker's Mark, Bulleit, and Knob Creek are some of my favorites.

Thanks for the heads up on the Buffalo Trace- haven’t been able to find Blanton’s anywhere for like the past 12 years lol. Will give that stuff a try for sure 
The band takes turns bringing a handle of Jack every week for practice.
As much as I like other stuff, the 40% keeps us well enough behaved. Other attempts with higher proof were met with some bad nights.
But me personally, I like a lot of what has been mentioned. A go-to for a cheap but good bottle is T. W. Samuels. Bottled in bond, damn tasty, 100 proof. My old man would pick it up when he would visit Kentucky, as it wasn't here in Ohio. And we did blind tests against much fancier stuff and it would beat it out frequently.

They had this 3rd party bottled stuff that was pulled from a single cask at Laphroaig distillery for $60 or so at my local place. Put a couple drops of water in a glass and it exploded with flavor when it got your tongue. I never understood people talking about "blooming" flavors until I had that. It was like an initial explosion of flavor followed by a blossoming of more, richer flavors. Never had anything else that came close to that experience. Best drink, alcoholic or not, I've ever had.
