Yes it is real.
The white Epiphone with black pickups and bolt neck like this one:

was a "Guitar of the Month" in 2005(Scroll down on this link: http://www.epiphone.com/news.asp?NewsID=215).

The bolt neck Epi is identical to the Epi ones sold now for $299. The bolt neck one on eBay's seller is hoping for someone obsessed to buy at that high a price. For LESS money you could get a new one of any color with an Epi case, have it painted at an automotive shop or by a luthier, and put a faux Gibson trussrod cover on it....and have the same thing....plus probably some change $$ left.

The recent BEAUTIFUL white SET NECK Epiphone T-Bird on eBay was Epiphone Japan(used to be Orville/Orville by Gibson). I was very tempted. It has a set neck and chrome hardware and, most likely, pickups similar to the 1976 Gibson T-Bird(except 2 screws to mount the pickups). Here's an Orville by Gibson with some wear(1980's vintage) for comparison to the Epi bolt neck above:

That eBay Epi's Seller either changed his mind OR sold it off of eBay. It was basically "As New" and a couple of the pictures(with the wooden floor) were the original Japanese seller's pics(IMO). That Japanese seller does not sell anything but the best...

I was not the Seller or buyer(son starts college in September).

Hmm, on most of the sites it's cheaper (the white epi thunderbird) like when the normal is €400 then the white epi is €320, does any of you understand that?

Probably because the painted ones use a different grade, or even different type, of timber :hmm:.

Also, the wood preparation, sunburst spraying and clear-coating is a lengthier process than the "one shot" paint blast, which a lot of budget instruments get.

Just my $0.02 :hmm:

Ive spent months looking for this thing! MONTHS! I currently own 5 epiphone thunderbird bass guitars including sunburst, blackbird, red, A WHITE ONE WHICH I PICKED UP TODAY DIRRRRRRRRRRT CHEAP! and my custom SpadeS thunderbird!

250 bux! i paid 250 bux for my white thunderbird today, slightly used but in tip top shape, everythings in order, sounds great, looks great and it feels slightly lighter then the blackbird which is usually my stage one. Id say i got a great deal lol
