White jazz bass pictures needed!

Thanks for the reply. Oly white/tort jazz basses have always been my favorites, and yours is one of the best examples I've seen. I've given Mark a hard time in the past for his tort guards not being authentic to the originals, but he nailed this one. You are making it very difficult for me to not refin my '62. Don't worry, it has already been refined twice.

As you know I'm in the same biz as Mark. Not tort pg's but high-end custom finishes and custom designed/built basses. The aftermarket/Fender dot-pattern tort pg I posted is how all mass-produced pg's are done. So even the very best version is still very 2D. That's all I'll say on that.

And on doing what you wish on your '62 - more power to you! Post pics once it's done including its former 'dress'. As my Gildaxe by-line states: "Your guitar should dress like a star!"

Hey Jio. Trix is good. Playin lots. Still a little chilly up here. Thanks for asking!

Right-on! So good to hear you're playing a lot. We get so mixed-in with all the menusha revolving around what we love most - that we can get lost in the forest. Playing the bass is where it's at! :bassist::thumbsup::bassist:

Now Jio, just so you know, I am ignoring you.
You see, i am very mad at you for posting pictures of beautiful basses in every thread on the interweb except for the SG-EB thread.

Quit holding out on us man!

It's a Fender '62 AVRI, bought it new in 2008, weighs about 8.8 lbs, perfect neck and set up, has had La Bella 760FL flats since I bought it, nice and thumpy:

I have LaBella flats on mine also - love um'! I'm jeolous - my J weighs 10 lbs. Oh well, such is the price of having everything else being how I want it!

Just as as a side note, I wonder why Fender didn't call this bass the '60 AVRI - as by '62 the stacked pots were gone. I mean, other than a possible FCS special order, Fender never did a totally accurate (w/felt mute apparatus) early 60's J, or an authentic early '66 w/Fender stamped pops J. They always fell short of a legit replica. Fender Japan came closer, ('51 P and the early '66 in question) but even they weren't 100%.

Yeah I get the impression the year they pick for their reissues is more a guideline than something they rigorously adhere to. But this particular Jazz is a really good one and I'm happy to play it whether or not it's accurate as a reissue, doesn't matter to me. Same with the 75 AV Jazz reissue that I also have, apparently it's more 78 than 75 but it's a heck of a bass so that's all that matters.
