White Pearl 1 Ply from Pickguardheaven

Just received this from pickguardheaven....am I crazy for feeling like this color should not be labeled White Pearl? Ordered a 1 ply white pearl for my EBMM Sterling to match with white pickup cover and switch, and was not expecting it to look like a dirty off white cream color...major bummer.

Their email response just said "we only have stock of (1) solid pearl."

Yeah adding some kind of adjective like Aged to the White Pearl color name would be clearer, but it was my mistake for just assuming the same name implied same basic color tone.

They followed up and are going to see if they can pull a piece of material that is closer to the image on their site. And it does look somewhat aged on the site, so probably just my mistake with the name...anyway on a positive note, here's a pic of the bass I'm working on and switching over to white pickup cover and switch

I love that 1-ply pearloid, the texture is so deep. I think it will look fabulous on your bass.

Yeah, I agree, one of the best looking pearl pickguards I've seen actually! Still, I can see how you would be disappointed with something like this, when expecting a typical clean, white non-aged pearl pickguard.

Bass looks amazing in that colour too! With the specks of rust on the pole pieces I think this aged-looking pickguard will actually fit very well!

Have you laid it on top of your bass to see what you think. I think it'll look just fine!

from their selection pics, looks like the 4 ply white pearl is more what you were looking for. The 1 ply white pearl pretty much looks like what you got. But with that said, I'd forego changing the pup and switch covers to white and put that pickguard on the bass. I think it will look great.

Just posting the final reply from pickguard heaven/chandler music because it has some information that may be useful for others who are new to custom pick guard orders…For pick guard orders, #250 is listed as white pearl 1 ply and #100 is white pearl 4 ply, but #250 is not actually intended to be used for pick guard purpose. Live and learn!

they are (2) totally different materials from 2 different manufacturers used for different purposes. 250 is actually fret board inlay material - thick solid shell without contrasting layers so you can inlay in a neck, sand, and finish if wanted/necessary. 100 is for pickguards and controls plates with a beveled edge to show or "frame" the surface material.
