Greetings all,
My name is Pete. My nic in real life is Scoops so I'll respond to either.
The kids are gone and looking forward to retirement in about 6 years to 7 years.
In my early life I was able to support myself as a musician. My typical day was to go to the local music store and I taught guitar, bass, and banjo. From there, I run over to one of the local establishments where we were the house band. I was probably playing 6 nites a week on average. I did get a chance to go on the road, but I never made the big time
In the late 70's when the economy got real bad, I went back to school to get another degree (My first degree was a Bachelor of Music), in electronic design. I got a job as an Electroic Designer, went on to be a System Administrator, then a Programmer Analyst, then a Business Systems Analyst, and now I'm a Project Manager.
I've played in local bands most of my life, but only just recently have I moved to playing bass as my main instrument. I ran the KVR Audio music contest for 5 years. I have a pretty nice DAW, and some really nice Mic's (I worked at Shure for 5 years), and done alot of collaborating with other musicians around the world. I am now in a couple different bands and playing on average, twice a week.
About 15 years ago I got feed up with the rising costs of quality musical instruments, so I decided to teach myself how to make guitars, basses, electric violins, and tube guitar amps. I did this all through the school of hard knocks, and with the help of the internet
I just recently found this site, and I am truly impressed with the quantity, and yes, quality of the information here.
Cheers!!!
Oh, here are my main basses
