Of late, my fav is a Seattle band called The Ruby Doe. Gutsy, edgy and some brutal tunes (not metal).

There something to be said about the magic between 3!

(Old) Wolfmother- they're a 4 piece now IIRC
Paramore- now technically a 3 piece after their drummer and lead guitarist quit, but they hired the rhythm guitarists brother for lead and Josh Freese on drums as touring replacements.
