Who Chris Cornell was to me.

Growing up an 80's baby and 90's child...Chris Cornell was very influential on so many of us kids from that generation. Though he was not a bass player, he was a huge inspiration to me. Like many out of the Seattle scene. I always keep some Soundgarden around, love the basslines to many of their songs..."Burden in my hand" has a cool melodic bass line, "Rusty Cage" has a unique pattern, and I can't tell you how many times I had fun teaching guitar players "Blow up the outside world" with all its chord changes. All of this from Chris Cornell's influence...the man who gave us "Spoonman". He vocal style, and expression will be missed. He always seemed like a nice guy, and I wish he would have thought things through.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but i believe he did think things through, he simply came to a conclusion that we are all trying to come to grips with. Please understand i am not trying to make light of what happened or the effect it's having on you. Any time one of my positive influences passes into the mystery that lies beyond this life, the piece of my heart they touched and the joy that touch brought me passes with them. The more unexpected the loss, the harder the hit, but i try my best to find comfort in the good memories that remain. In cases such as this i sometimes find myself running a range of emotions from confusion to sadness to rage, but i eventually find the spot to settle that allows me to accept it, and continue on with my life.
