who else loves the new dodge challenger

I love the new retro styling car manufacturers are going for reviving the past with 2012 engineering/technology; there was something very special about those American Made 70's muscle cars.

Could there be there be a new version of the Corvair on the horizon?
I thought the Roadrunner, and Javelin were pretty cool too.

I really loved the styling- I rented an SRT8 for a week with the thought of considering getting one (or a Mustang, etc)- but it was a boaaaaaaat. It felt huge. The visibility wasn't very good front or back, and it felt like my diesel Ram!

Beautiful car though, but I needed something a bit more nimble and navigable.

That said, I was a Mustang guy, but the Challenger and the Camaro both did a better job with the retro styling. The Mustang looks amazing from the front and back, but the sides are a mess. The others did a better job, imo.

I agree. It's totally impractical for me - I live in a land of mountain roads, fast AWD (Audi or WRX) are the ticket for me, but even so, I kinda want to rock the Challenger.

My best friend's mom had one (a convertible) back in 1971 or 72, and it was the shizzle.

My dad and I worked on restoringa 74 Javelin when I was a kid. Very cool and very unknown car.

I really want to like all of the modern retro pony cars. But I can't. I get them as rentals occasionally. They are varyingly, but all, loud, huge, ponderous, brash, have poor visibility, and the sound the doors make when they close is like half a second long.

I suppose I see the appeal, but those aren't what I look for in a car these days.

Meh, the only domestic vehicle I would pay my money for is a Jeep Wrangler, strictly on the basis of it's uniquity.

Other than that, if I want a fast, expensive, flashy car I'd go with an Impreza STi or a Beemer. America is catching up in the vehicle race, especially having lagged for so long, but they aren't impressing me much.

Case in point, the Challenger. Drove an older model a few years ago. Fast in a straight line, but couldn't see out of the darn thing (and I'm 5'8"), body rolled horribly (because it's a boat), gas mileage was decent, and can't get it in a stickshift (so what's the point of it being a sports car?). Glad her sugar-daddy was paying for it.

The first retro Mustang was interesting, but then everyone decided that cars no longer needed to be aesthetically pleasing. Big fat wastes with little beauty, just this stupid "macho" look. Not to mention the gun-slit windows. I do like Cadillac's Art & Science design language though.

They did that here as well. Apparently they got a deal on them here.

As for cops using a challenger, I think some are confused , cops use a charger. The charger is 4 door , the challenger 2.

I dig the challengers.
