Who else opens up every pedal they own?

to clear some beer spill! but all my pedals were opened by me once!

Usually open them up to remove the battery. I'm afraid of moisture finding it's way in there, causing the battery to leak, and potentially ruining my precious electronics. 
(it always seems to be drizzlin during load-in & out).
Also take that battery out to reduce weight.
Ten 9v batteries = 1 lbs
Like to check if the manufacturer uses surface mount components. Maybe I'm baised, but most surface mount pedals sound inferior, less dynamic.
I find this especially true for fuzz distortion circuits. Though some manufacturers still surprise me with the quality of sound even with surf mounted components, like EBS.
Usually I give a pedal a thorough work out before opening it up. Determine if it's board-worthy before removing the battery and putting it in the daisy chain.
Judge the sound quality first before judging the component's quality.

i do, but have no real knowledge of whats going on in there.
its usually just to poke around and see how sturdy it looks, or to look for trimpots, battery placement, ext.

If you need to open up the pedal to tell if it has surface mount components, you probably can't tell that it has surface mount components without the help of your eyes.
Anyway, I ALWAYS open up my pedals.
How else you gonna find out whether the new acquisition goes on the girl board or the boy board?
That one didn't scare me, but the Ekko definitely did. And I knew to expect something, but still.
The question is, why wouldn't you? It's just so nice to behold a well organized box for noise makin.
