Funny, I go back and forth. Kinda like a P for rocking out, more room for note bending and general sloppiness, and a J for precision work. Irony.

I love p-bass necks ... I take them and put 5 strings on them ... absolutely marvelous!

Actually I think that J necks are a bit thick. I also think that P necks are really thick. I like them all really. Sometimes I like a thin neck, it feels comfortable. A P neck will basically fill up my entire hand though, and I have big hands too (6'1"). Everything has a nice quality.
