Who has a Bad Ass HOME only rig?

This one stays at the practice pad. They were about $1,500 back in the day, I p/u at the local GC for $350. Everything works perfectly, it's very pro, & sounds amazing. I've always had a soft spot for Ashdown's pro-level stuff, so even though I wasn't in the market, I couldn't pass it up.

Funniest part was, when I asked the salesman at GC if there was anything wrong with it, he said no. So then I asked him if he knew what they had here, he starts giving me all the stats for it. I stopped him & said I knew exactly what it was, I just couldn't believe they had it priced so low. He asked if I thought they get could more $$ for it, to which I replied, "not anymore, I'm taking it home!" Ah, priceless...

Now to find an 8ohm extension cab...there's 255 extra watts just lazing away in there...

Nope, a friend of mine who once worked for JGravity Strings a long time ago, had connections with SLM when they sold Ampeg to Loud Technologies, he found a NOS output transformer

among the parts they shipped overseas. Once that was replaced, we were good to go. Recently, I had Dave Ryan at Killer Vingtage, replace the entire tube set with NOS Ampeg badge Sylvanias

and a pair of Telefunken 6L6GC"S. The icing on the cake was a JBL-D130F that was listed on Reverb for a pretty reasonable price. I know Greg, because years ago I gave him a Ampeg B-15N(D)

that had a blown transformer years ago. If you're ever back in St. Louis visiting your son, you can come over and play it. The JBL made a huge difference in the sound.

Home rig is my gig rig and I've always done it that way. You won't be master of the sound coming out of your rig unless you play it ALL THE TIME, just like your basses - which is why my motto is "Practice your rig". I run either the 4x10 or two of the 15s at any given location, and that's usually how it's wired in the house, although sometimes I cannot resist and just fire the entire thing up for grins.

My home rig goes with me to gigs too, but I have a couple rigs. The Electric and GK Neo go to gigs with me. The rest stay home most the time. (My GK has since died ). I also have an SWR 810 that I'm using as a coffee table atm haha. Not my original intention at the time I got it. But I saw a good deal and couldn't pass it up!

Acoustic 270 powering a 105 and 406w, and chained to a 320+408. The 406w is loaded with D140F speakers, the 408 with K140s.

Buster stays home for now. A ton of fun—almost literally! I might trot this one out if I put a gigging band together, but lugging a 90+# all-tube combo, even with built in rollers, seems a bit much with good lightweight or even amp-less options readily available. This one sounds SO GOOD, though …

(Buster needs to visit the amp doctor at the moment, so this strictly-for-home rig has made for some sweet nostalgia lately.)

When Buster gets back, I might look into running both my Mesas together:

Kustom 100 W amp and 412 guitar speaker cab. Replaced Jensen speakers with 4 Eminence 12" bass speakers. Nice built in distortion, and this puppy is LOUD. Leaves the house only rarely.

Right now my home rig is an Avatar SB-112 NEO (great cab) with an Ampeg PF-350 on top. Playing a new EPI Embassy Pro through it now, classic rock heaven.

I'm curious to see some of the nicest home only rigs on TB. I remember seeing one guy a while back order an Aguilar 412 for use in his house only and thinking about what a badass home rig that must be.

I'm not looking for guys who think the ultimate home only rig is their GK MB 200 with nice headphones. But if you feel the need to post that go ahead.

I'm looking for rigs that stay put and don't leave your house.

My dream one day is to have a beautiful big home studio with amazing equipment that doubles as a good cool chill room.

If you have a dope home rig let's see it!

So basically gear that no one wants to gig with because they'd be miserable moving it lol.

At night when the wife and kids are sleeping I'll use headphones and when at home I'll mostly just use one cab but I use the same rig for everything so

Bergantino REF 210 and REF 112 cabs. They stay home. I have duplicates at our rehearsal space, they're the ones to go "out" with me. The Mesa D800 and Sadowsky P leave the house weekly, the Fender P stays home.

I honestly think that you can make your room look much better by moving the cat stand underneath the picture frame and putting the bigger cab on the top. The cat will like it just as much and the cat stand will be out of the way.
