single 15's? i like 'em! i recently reconfigured a couple of cabinets and have had no access to a single 15" for a couple of months...but i have two black widow 15's and i'm contemplating a cab for each --- just to have the option, or for pairing one with a 2x10 cab.

but i like the 'smooth' of a single 15! ;)

I may need to revisit this as my best 1x15 rig is the 3015 in a TL606 cabinet.
It sounds very good but does not have enough clean headroom for a rock stage mix.
I have been assuming that a single 15 just doesn't have enough cone area to push much air?

OTOH, I see guys like Duke, Mesa, Barefaced, etc. getting huge priase fro single 1x15's (or 1x12's)
Has cabinet design technology changed that much since a stock 3015 came out or are the speaker variants that much beefier?

The GB 2x12 NeoX has been a better solution for me but have not tried the Uber 1x15 or the other modern 1x15 offereings.

I have a soft spot for 15's. They do sound massive. I miss using one. In my experience, unless paired with a punchier 410 for example, they fart too much (aka push air lol). Doesn't suit. But hats off to you guys who rock them.

So do you feel that adding a 115 to a 410 makes for a good rig? I just got a 115 to stack my 410 onto but haven't been able to try 'em both out. I figure the 115 would add some girth instead of another 410.

Well, it depends on how much air you need to push ... I've never played with more than a 1x15, albeit mainly in smaller venues and with sensible colleagues, and never felt remotely underpowered. But we have a quiet stage discipline in the circles I mostly play in.

Got these for Christmas. I dabble. Wish I could say I play. Ashdown AAA EVO 120. It’s just in the house. A little practice amp. Haven’t turned the volume above 1 yet.

I’m all about the old Peavey combos - although I don’t own one today. The Combo 300 ruled and I gigged a Databass combo until it was stolen.

I also owned a similar Trace Elliot head as above - great stuff. The Trace 15 was an absolute beast - but I could barely move it!
I have both Combo 300 and Databass, Both rock the house.
