Without a doubt it WAS Gene Krupa. He was the drummer who moved out front where he could be seen and heard. It's been said that without Gene the drums and the drummer who's playing them would still be stuck in the back out of sight. Looking back at him now he seems tame compared to today's flashy drummers but for HIS time he was the man.

I don't think I've ever seen him play. I know Transplants performed on Jimmy Kimmel years and years ago, I don't remember him standing out, but the cameras are always focused on the singer.
