Excuse my ignorance....other than the way the guy did in that vid....how do you level/dress frets?
That seems stupid. I have no hardcore luthier acumen but purely from a rational point of view he would have to apply an even level of pressure at all times and grind away at the same speed to make level frets. This seems like a crude means of doing a delicate job.
Expert Village is a good means of training on how NOT to do things.

He may level the frets this way, but the game does change, once it's glued to the neck and besides that fretboards don't exactly sit "level" in the state that he has it........ the frets in all the slots, tend to make the fretboard curl in, from the compression, but can be done this way nonetheless.
If he can get the frets cleaned up, once he's finished, then I'm sure he can do it in the fashion that he's doing it, seems like alot more work the way he's doing it though.

i'm telling you, the guy may be a little unorthodox, and it would have been better if he used a real neck, but he's not doing anything i haven't seen other repair guys do. my regular guy does the same thing only with sandpaper and a sheet of plexiglas and he's great.
I use a strip of 1/2" thick lexan.
