Who is your favorite Comedian?

Bill Cosby is easily one of the greatest, If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have modern stand-up comedy and the likes of Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Bill Hicks and everyone else that followed. His timing is brilliant, and his story telling is fantastic, gets you hooked, and even if you can tell what the punch line is going to be, he'll have you in stitches throughout.

I think my favourite at the moment is Bill Bailey, partly cause he's a brilliant comic, but his improvisational comedy is simply amazing, he's like the 'trane of comedy. I'm not sure how well known he is in America, but if you've not heard of him, he's brilliant and well worth checking out.

I'm a big fan of Bill Cosby. Early stuff and even "Himself". Funny stuff. The dentist routine is just gold.

What's amazing about Bill Cosby is that he is hilarious, yet I have never heard him use an expletive. It seems that almost everyone who hopes to make it in comedy these days has to throw in an obscenity every once in a while.

In that respect, Bill Cosby is by far my favorite comedian.

The only swear I've heard him say from memory was that bit from "Himself" when he's talking about people doing drugs/partying.

" It enchances your personality." (I forget what drug he was referring to)

"Yeah, but what if you're an ***hole?"

Good bit though.

My drummer was privedged to get a 10 minute private one on one perfromance from Jackie Mason. My friend was working as a stage hand at a big hotel and Jackie Mason walked up to him and started. "What? they don't pay you enough money around here so you can get some decent clothes? " My buddy stood there for ten minutes while Mason tore him to shreads. He was crying with laughter.

For me, there's a long list depending on the moment:

Rodney Dangerfield
George Carlin
Shephen Wright
Jackie Mason
Sam Kenison (the only guy that made me laugh while deep down I was saying "I shouldn't be laughing at this")
Russel Peters

That's pretty cool. What a classic moment.

Man, this is difficult. I'll say Cosby, Newhart, Steve Martin, Rock and Chappelle.

I'm sure I would like Hedberg and Hicks, but I've barely heard their stuff at all. I need to change that.
I love all the old dead guys too.

Buddy Hackett

Redd Foxx

Richard Prior

Rodney Dangerfield

Don Rickles

They all had a hand in warping my young mind!
Rickles is still alive.:D
Some of my faves - Patton Oswalt, Demitri Martin, Eugene Mirman, Mitch Fatel, Janeanne Garofalo, Todd Barry, Seinfeld, Hedberg, Carlin...
A bit of trivia: I knew Todd Barry a little back when he played drums in a band with a buddy of mine. He played in a couple different bands in Florida. Always a very droll guy.

Jonathan Winters.... I forgot all about him. Maybe the most naturally funny individual I've ever seen.
Yep, Winters is underappreciated.
