Who owns the same bass in both 4 and 5 string?

Who out there will also buy the same bass as a 4 and a 5 string?

I picked up at Schecter Stilletto Studio in 4 and 5 used. Thought I would sell one and keep the other. Now I want to keep them both!

Anyone else out there look do this and think, "I don't know why I did it but I did and damn happy to do it again!"

I don’t because my two basses serve different purposes. My 4 is a PB used for music when 4 strings was the only choice. Most written then was written for a 4 string bass. My 5 string (Warwick Corvette) has a much more modern tone which sounds more natural on music written after 1980.

I have a sire M5 4 string. I'm debating getting the new sire m7 6 string. To me a 4 and 6 stringer are different enough that I'd have two of the same model, but 4 and 5 of the same model would be pushing it.

I own both an Ibanez SR885 and an SR886, which are very similar and as close as Ibanez came in those days to having the "same" bass in a 5 and a 6. Does that count?

I'd say yes. I also have two close old ('92) Ibanezes... CTB1 and CTB5. Different pickup configurations but interestingly, identical bodies. The necks are essentially identical in size and shape to Soundgears.

I did a ton of mods to the 4, and I'm about to do a lot of mods to the 5.

I got the black one in '92, and I love how it feels and plays. I ended up preferring the reverse PJ configuration, too. I upgraded the electronics to EMG stuff. When I decided to get a 5, it was also going to be one that I liked how it felt and plays. So I got the 5-banger version. I'm going to completely change the electronics to make it sound exactly how I want. And get rid of the ugly yellowed finish, too.

Yep, when I moved to 5’s I looked for a Big Al as i love so much my 4’s. Great Fiver that can cover a lot of ground. Would have been ever better with the maple neck to really make it a twin
