Who runs Bass -> Cable -> Amp ... no effects?

I agree with all those who are dismayed by the idea of effects on bass.

My fretless Warmoth neck/body Villex equipped axe -----> Monster cable -------> GT Ditto box (vintage tubes) ----------> Carvin LS1503a combo.

My fretted version of that axe goes ------------> cable -----------> Ampeg BA115HPT also with vintage bottles.

Maybe bass guitarists rely on FX, but bassists go straight wire with gain.

25 years playing, I've tried all sorts of setups. This is the one that never lets me down. I keep it to one cabinet as well (3 to choose from depending on the gig).

I only put a boss tu2 tuner between me and my bass. my tone comes from fingers, amps and cabs

i used to be simple, then screwed around with basic effects, then found the best of both worlds by switching to "true Bypass" effects....even my tuner...nothing flashy though...
and love the flexibility of going nasty or true to motown...

The vast majority of my playing is done straight into the amp with no effects. I may use a chorus or envelope filter once in awhile but I'm pretty much not an effects guy. I do however keep a Sansamp Bass Driver handy as a D.I. box or to fatten up the tone of any average so-so sounding bass amp.

Why would you change if it wasn't a problem before?

Unless your tuner is "sucking tone," there's no reason to make playing more inconvenient for the sole purpose of "running straight through."

The only reason I run B-C-A is because I don't "hear" effects in my sound and have no reason to use them. I have a rack tuner and I'm not concerned about muting to tune.

I have some cool effects for my guitar rig though, like a mint Ibanez UE300 nice.

Another simple dude here...Just bass, cable (fairly generic), and amp, with a tuner on the "tuner out" connection.

I've never used effects, and even though I've thought about it at times, since I only play basic rock, it doesn't seem to be worth the time, money, or effort.

In my 30+years of professional playing, I've met very few bassists who use pedals. Guitarists...nuther dealio.

YMMV, and if you like lots of pedals, carry on.
